Academic Proofreading Services

How Academic Proofreading Works

1. A primary academic proofreading service

  • We go through your thesis to conduct a preliminary proofread for grammar, punctuation and syntactical issues, while taking the opportunity to read and grasp the thesis in depth.
  • We edit and reorganise the Introduction and Abstract based on the key themes emerging from our first proofread of the entire text.

2. More detailed academic editing and reorganisation

  • In addition to academic proofreading we edit and, if necessary, reorganise the Literature Review based on our review of the Research Questions and Objectives.
  • We may introduce more sub-headings and linking paragraphs to signpost how the review of the literature points to the key research objectives.
  • We reorganise the Findings drawn from analysis of the research data and then link these sections to the Methodology chapter and the Data Analysis chapter, flowing into the Findings chapter.

3. Completion of a text for submission with formatting

  • We coordinate closely with you the researcher to find a suitable structure for the Conclusion and Recommendations chapter.
  • We check and update the required referencing system throughout the text and bibliography.
  • We finish with a final proofread and a review of the more difficult chapters or passages.
  • Finally, we number the tables and the new sub-headings to complete the Contents pages.

What's the difference between academic editing and standard proofreading?

       PROOFREADING

A fast but careful service to ensure your work is ready for submission:

    • Careful and comprehensive proofreading to edit your text thoroughly and eliminate typographical, grammar and syntactical mistakes.
    • We check for consistency in vocabulary, terminology and style and make sure the vocabulary selected is formal, consistent and appropriate to your sphere of research.
    • We proofread with track changes so you can follow the full edit, providing you with a tracked and a clean version of your text.
    • We also use margin comments to highlight points where meaning is ambiguous or unclear and further editing may be required.

      EDITING

In our full editing, proofreading and formatting service, we provide:

    • A preliminary proofread for grammar, punctuation and syntactical issues while reading the thesis in depth to understand its main themes and objectives.
    • A focus on textual improvements to your writing style and the efficacy with which you present your argument, while correcting grammatical and syntactical flaws that might weaken your writing.
    • Intensive editing of your written language and improvement of the structure of your work to provide a stylish, comprehensive and ambitious work meeting all of your objectives.
    • Reorganisation of particular chapters and sections where required, adding linking sections to strengthen structure. A new Abstract, Introduction and Contents page may be created based on existing material. Our editing work may take 2-3 months based on the researcher's own revision of the material over this period of time.

    CASE STUDY

    Alice, studying Contemporary Art Theory

    Editing and proofreading an
    MA dissertation and coursework

    JOB REQUIRED:
Daniel advised me mainly on the formatting of my dissertation and helped me correct my grammar. In addition, he changed the structure of my sentences through heavy proofreading and advised me on the appropriateness of the content of the dissertation.

    OUTCOME:
Daniel was very helpful in writing my dissertation based on his background in philosophy. For example, Daniel corrected the wording of my dissertation or gave advice based on his knowledge of the words used by certain philosophers.
I always got answers in no more than a day. This part is one of the parts I am most satisfied with. Also, at my request, Daniel finished editing in half a day for my urgent submission. As you can see if you search for general thesis editing prices, Daniel's editing fees are very reasonable.

    REVIEW:
I have graduated, but if I need to use proofreading services in the future, I will definitely use Daniel's proofreading services again.
Thanks to Daniel's help, I was able to score above Distinction in all subjects. I actually recommended this proofreading service to a friend, and my friend was also happy with the service.
